Joanna Wajda, the Institute’s director, told Polish Radio 24 that the exhibition blends art with sports. "We show how art intersects with sports and how artists depict athletes as superheroes, icons, or even divine figures," she explained.

Art meets athleticism

The showcase highlights both the achievements and struggles of athletes, including their loneliness, through painting, photography, and video art.

Curated by Paweł Witkowski, the gallery showcases nearly 30 pieces, including paintings and installations, by 17 artists: Krzysztof M. Bednarski, Evgen Copi Gorisk, Norbert Delman, Iwona Demko, Katarzyna Dyjewska, Agata Głogowska, Piotr Gromniak, Justyna Kisielewicz, Julia Kurek, Paweł Kwiatkowski, Janek Możdżyński, Łukasz Rudecki, Ushio Shinohara, Jacek Sroka, Helena Stiasny, Sabina Twardowska, and Erwin Wyjadłowski.

The display will be open throughout the Paris Olympic Games to August 9, 2024, at the Polish Institute in Paris.
