Legendary powerboat champion Waldemar Marszałek dies at 82

Waldemar Marszałek, a famous Polish powerboat racer and six-time world champion, has passed away at the age of 82, as announced by the Museum of Sport and Tourism.

„He was one of the most decorated Polish athletes in history, a six-time world champion in powerboat racing. Rest in peace, Master,” reads the post on X.

Waldemar Marszalek was an iconic figure in powerboat racing and one of the most decorated Polish athletes in the sport’s history.

His career spanned several decades, during which he set numerous records and earned a reputation for his exceptional skill and dedication to the sport.

In 1982, the athlete was inolved in a serious accident near Berlin, Germany. He survived clinical death and, after rehabilitation, returned to competition.

Waldemar Marszałek managed to win the Polish championship title 40 times and won a total of 27 medals at the World and European Championships, according to „Przegląd Sportowy”.
