Aleksandra Mirosław captivated the audience at Paris 2024 by setting a new world record of 6.06 seconds in the women’s speed climbing qualifiers, right after surpassing her own previous record. The Polish climbing star, a two-time world champion, first achieved 6.21 seconds, improving on her September 2023 record of 6.24 seconds before setting the new mark.

Few know that the 30-year-old gold medalist leads a fascinating double life, excelling in her sport while also serving in the Polish Armed Forces as part of the Central Military Sports Team.

Polish "Spider Woman": A speed climber, teacher, and military specialist

Aleksandra studied at the Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw and worked as a physical education teacher in Lublin until 2019. It was only afterward that she began her involvement in the military.

Following her Olympic victory, the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces announced that Specialist Mirosław met with soldiers and their dogs who were securing the Paris Olympics.

She was raised among athletes. Her father practiced martial arts, while her mother played volleyball. Even her coach is her husband, Mateusz Mirosław, whom she married on June 21, 2019, after getting engaged on July 1, 2017.

Despite her numerous achievements, including multiple gold medals at World and European Championships, Mirosław remains committed to taking on new challenges, with many believing her best performances are yet to come.
