On the 15-kilometer mountainous stage, Wellens outpaced Vingegaard by nine seconds and his teammate, Austrian Felix Grossschartner, by 15 seconds. Rafał Majka from UAE Team Emirates finished 36th, trailing the winner by 1 minute and 29 seconds.

In the overall standings, Vingegaard, a two-time Tour de France winner, holds a 24-second lead over his Visma teammate, Dutchman Wilco Kelderman, and is 25 seconds ahead of Italian Diego Ulissi (UAE Team Emirates). Rafał Majka is in 19th place, trailing by 1 minute and 23 seconds.

On Tuesday, Majka was not the leading Polish rider. Piotr Pękala of the national team, racing for Santic-Wibatech, recorded the best Polish time, finishing 25th, 1:15 behind.

National time trial champion Filip Maciejuk (Red Bull Bora-hansgrohe) was only a second slower, while Majka finished 14 seconds behind Pękala.

After his underwhelming performance at Orlinek, the Zegartowice cyclist might be given an opportunity to compete for a stage victory, as UAE Team Emirates focuses on supporting their leader, Ulissi, in the stage from Wałbrzych to Dusznik-Zdrój, where Majka triumphed last year.
