Gold, bronze for Poles at Paris Paralympics

Team Poland won two medals at the Paris Paralympic Games on Friday, taking the country's total medal haul so far to three.

Róża Kozakowska claimed gold in the women's F32 club throw event, with a best effort of 31.30 metres, a new world record, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Meanwhile, countryman Lech Stoltman took the bronze in the men's F55 shot put competition for athletes competing from a seated position.

Team Poland's medal tally is expected to grow later this weekend, with at least three bronzes secured in table tennis, the PAP news agency reported.

Poland has so far won two gold medals and a bronze at the Paris Paralympics.

Polish athletes are competing in 15 sports at the Games, including para-athletics, swimming, table tennis, weightlifting and kayaking.

contingent of 84 athletes, comprising 43 men and 41 women, is representing Poland at this global multi-sport event, which celebrates the sporting talent of athletes with various impairments. More than 4,400 competitors from around the world are taking part.

Team Poland won 24 medals, seven gold, six silver and 11 bronze, and finished 17th in the overall medal standings at the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo.

Poland scooped 39 medals and finished 10th in the medals table at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Public broadcaster Polish Radio is a media partner of the Polish team for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Summer Games, which started on August 28 and run until September 8.
