Tennis: Poland’s Świątek starts week 124 as WTA world No. 1

Poland's Iga Świątek has started her 124th week at the top of the Women's Tennis Association's (WTA) world rankings, with a 1,069-point lead over her nearest rival.

The Polish player, who last week said she was parting ways with her coach Tomasz Wiktorowski, leads the WTA rankings with 9,785 points, ahead of Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, with 8,716 points, and American Jessica Pegula, with 5,945.

Świątek has withdrawn from the WTA 1000 tournament in Wuhan and the entire autumn Asian season due to fatigue and personal reasons, marking a pause in her competitive play since September 5.

The second-highest ranked Polish female player, Magdalena Fręch, moved up four spots to a career-high No. 27 in the latest WTA rankings.

Meanwhile, countrywomaMagda Linette retained her 45th place in the new world rankings, which were released on Monday.
