The Polish world No. 2 dispatched Kasatkina in just 53 minutes at the eight-player event in the Middle East on Thursday, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
Świątek was initially scheduled to play against Jessica Pegula, but the American withdrew from the competition in Riyadh with a knee injury.
The Pole opened her WTA Finals campaign with a 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 victory over the Czech Republic's Barbora Krejčiková, but was then stunned by American Coco Gauff 3-6, 4-6 in her second match.
She now must wait for the result of the later clash between Gauff and Krejčiková to see if she makes the semifinals.
The 2024 WTA Finals event began in Riyadh on November 2 and runs until Saturday.
Świątek, who is the defending WTA Finals champion, last month lost her world No. 1 spot to Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka after spending 125 weeks on top of the world rankings.
