On the women's side, Poland's world No. 2 Iga Świątek and 26th-ranked Magdalena Fręch have both advanced to the second round of the tournament.
Meanwhile, fellow Poles Magda Linette and Maja Chwalińska have crashed out of the Australian Open after losing their first-round women's singles matches, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
The 2025 Australian Open runs until January 26.
