Over the weekend, following one of her matches at the Australian Open, the global tennis star took a moment to dedicate her success to him.
Świątek dedicates Australian Open success to her grandfather
“If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t be here,” Świątek said as she signed a camera lens for viewers watching closely. She added a message for her grandfather, saying, “Sending love and hearts to my grandpa,” explaining that she had always planned to thank the family patriarch in this way.
“He’s always believed I could achieve great things on the court, so I hope he’s doing well,” Świątek shared.
The 23-year-old tennis star from Poland advanced to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open in Melbourne. On Grandfathers' Day, January 22, at approximately 3 a.m. Polish time, Świątek is set to face American player Emma Navarro.
