Tennis: Poland’s Świątek through to last four at Indian Wells

Poland’s Iga Świątek has reached the semifinals of the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament at Indian Wells, California.

The Polish world No. 2 beat China's Zheng Qinwen 6-3, 6-3 in their quarterfinal clash on Thursday.

The Polish star, who is the defending Indian Wells champion, will now face Russian Mirra Adreeva for a place in the final of the women’s singles at the tournament in the California desert.

Świątek won the Indian Wells championship in 2022, made the semifinals in 2023, and regained the title last year.

The Pole is also the most recent woman to complete the Sunshine Double, winning Indian Wells and the Miami Open back-to-back in 2022, according to the Women's Tennis Association (WTA).

The 2025 Indian Wells runs until Sunday.
