Former European champion Natalia Maliszewska played a key role in all three podium finishes by Team Poland in the Chinese capital.
On the last day of competition, Maliszewska finished third in the women's 500 metres and also grabbed the bronze in the 2000m mixed relay event, together with teammates Kamila Stormowska, Michał Niewiński and Diane Sellier.
A day earlier, the Polish women's 3000m relay team of Maliszewska, Stormowska, Nikola Mazur and Gabriela Topolska finished second behind Canada to claim silver.
In March 2018, Maliszewska finished runner-up in the women's 500m at the world championships in Montreal, becoming the first Polish short-track speed skater to make a global podium.
In November 2018, she became the first Polish short-track speed skater to win a World Cup event.
In January 2019, she won a European championship title in the women's 500m in Dordrecht, the Netherlands.
In February 2019, she became the first Pole to win an overall World Cup title in the sport.
