Tennis: Poland’s Świątek out of WTA Finals after second group-stage loss

Poland’s Iga Świątek was eliminated from the season-ending WTA Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, after losing her final group-stage match.

The world No. 2 fell to American Amanda Anisimova 7-6, 4-6, 2-6 on Wednesday, her second defeat at the eight-player tournament, ending her bid to reach the semifinals.

Świątek opened her campaign with a 6-1, 6-2 win over American Madison Keys before suffering a 3-6, 4-6 loss to Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina in her second match.

The 2025 WTA Finals event began on November 1 and runs through Saturday.

Świątek won the WTA Finals in 2023 but also exited early in Riyadh last year.
