European champions Spain remain at the top of the FIFA rankings, followed by world champions Argentina.

World Cup runners-up and Euro 2024 semifinalists France are at No. 3, ahead of Euro 2024 runners-up England in fourth spot.

The new FIFA rankings were released after Poland secured a spot in the playoffs for next year's World Cup in North America.

Poland finished second in their qualifying Group G with 14 points, three behind the Netherlands, who qualified directly.

All group winners in European qualification earned automatic berths at the World Cup. The 12 runners-up will have a second chance to advance through playoffs in March.

The playoff draw will be held on Thursday at FIFA headquarters in Zürich, Switzerland.

The 2026 World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19, 2026 in the United States, Canada and Mexico. It will feature a total of 48 teams, 16 more than in Qatar 2022.

Poland last year suffered an early exit from the Euro 2024 tournament, after losing its first two group-stage matches against the Netherlands and Austria and drawing 1-1 with France in its final game.

Poland's lowest place in the world rankings was 78th, in 2013.
