Lewandowski’s goal on Wednesday came in the 80th minute of play and marked the 54th time the Polish star striker has scored in the Champions League across 81 matches.
The 31-year-old Pole is the competition’s sixth-highest all-time scorer, two goals behind retired Dutch player Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Meanwhile, Polish midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak scored as his Lokomotiv Moscow side defeated Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 in the group stage of the Champions League on Wednesday.

Several other Poland internationals, among them Arkadiusz Milik and Piotr Zieliński (both Napoli) as well as goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny (Juventus), are also hoping to make their mark in this season’s Champions League.
Thirty-two teams will take part in a total of six rounds of fixtures in the Champions League group stage, which kicked off on Tuesday and will conclude on December 11.
The Champions League final will be played on May 30 next year at the Atatürk Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.
