At a meeting with Polish Volleyball Federation officials, Mateusz Morawiecki said he was happy with recent successes by Polish athletes, including volleyball players, and announced further government support.
“We will continue to invest in infrastructure for young footballers, volleyball players and young athletes because it can be seen that our policy, our approach to sports, is producing results," Morawiecki said.
He congratulated the Polish men’s national volleyball team, which won a bronze medal at the European championships last month and qualified for next year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Meanwhile, the Polish track-and-field team won a total of six medals, one gold, two silver and three bronze, at this year's World Athletics Championships, which ended in Doha, Qatar, on Sunday.
Morawiecki in March praised Poland's track-and-field team after it topped the overall medals table at the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Glasgow.
The Polish prime minister at the end of last year allocated an extra multi-million government subsidy for volleyball.
