Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi, who came in fourth, maintained his tournament lead, while also staying on top of this season’s World Cup standings.

Poland’s Kubacki was third halfway through the tournament.

The Pole finished third in the opening event of the Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf, Germany, on Sunday, December 29.

The Four Hills Tournament, which is part of the ski-jumping World Cup circuit, features a series of four competitions taking place in Germany and Austria every year.

The next stop after Garmisch-Partenkirchen is Austria’s Innsbruck, where the world's top ski jumpers are scheduled to compete on Saturday, January 4.

The series will conclude with an event in Austria’s Bischofshofen on Monday, January 6.

Poland’s Stoch won the 2017/2018 season’s Four Hills Tournament and also triumphed at the 2016/2017 tournament, ahead of second-placed teammate Żyła and another Pole, Maciej Kot, in fourth place.
