The 23-year-old Pole last week won his second ATP singles title by beating American Sebastian Korda in the final of the Delray Beach Open tournament in the US state of Florida.
Meanwhile, Kamil Majchrzak, a Polish 24-year-old, has dropped one spot to No. 108 in the latest rankings by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).
Serbia’s Novak Djokovic remains No. 1 in the ATP ranking, followed by Spain’s Rafael Nadal and Austria's Dominic Thiem.
The new rankings were released as the world's best tennis players converged on Australia for warm-up events leading up to the first Grand Slam of the year.
Thanks to his success at Delray Beach, Hurkacz is set to be seeded at next month's Australian Open. That will allow him to avoid heavyweights such as Serbia's Novak Djokovic or Spain's Rafael Nadal in the first round of the Grand Slam tournament in Melbourne.
