The fifth-seeded Polish teenager overpowered the second-seeded 23-year-old Swiss player 6-2, 6-2 in the final at the post-Australian Open tournament in Adelaide.

The 19-year-old Pole did not drop a set on her way to the title.

Earlier in the tournament, Świątek defeated American Madison Brengle, Australian Maddison Inglis and Danielle Collins of the United States.

She reached the final after beating Switzerland's Jil Teichmann 6-4, 6-1 on Friday.

She went into the tournament ranked world No. 18 by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), but is set to climb to a career-high No. 15 when the rankings are updated on Monday.

The rising Polish tennis star reached the fourth round of the women’s singles at this year's Australian Open, where she lost to Romania's Simona Halep.

The Polish teenager in October won the French Open, claiming her maiden Grand Slam title and becoming the first Pole to lift a Grand Slam singles trophy.

In addition to lifting the French Open singles trophy, Świątek reached the semifinals of last year's women’s doubles competition in Paris together with Nicole Melichar of the United States.

A previous high point in Świątek's career was when she reached the final of the WTA Samsung Open tournament in Lugano, Switzerland, in April 2019.

In July 2018, the Pole won the girls' singles title at the Wimbledon championships in London.

Later that year, she won a gold medal for her country at the Youth Summer Olympic Games in Buenos Aires.

In December 2018, she was hailed as rookie of the year by public broadcaster Polish Radio.
