The top-seeded Pole will now face Britain's Andy Murray for a place in the semifinals.
Hurkacz has already booked his place in the semifinals of the men’s doubles competition at the Moselle Open, partnering with countryman Jan Zieliński.
The Polish duo saw off Austria's Oliver Marach and Philipp Oswald 6-3, 6-4 in their quarterfinal match in Metz on Wednesday.
