The 33-year-old beat Kyrgyzstan's Ernazar Akmataliev in the gold medal bout on Tuesday.

Gadzhiev was born in Russia and is a naturalized Pole. His gold marks the first world championship for Poland in freestyle wrestling, state news agency PAP reported.

Poland scooped nine medals, four silver and five bronze, at the European wrestling championships, which were held in Warsaw in April.
