For Lewandowski, it is the third such honour, and second in row.
Receiving the award at a gala ceremony on Saturday, the 33-year-old, who stars for Bayern Munich and spearheads Poland's national squad, noted that the award was particularly meaningful to him as he had been living abroad for 12 years, and a title won in his native country, in a vote by Polish fans, has a special significance.
