Winter Olympics: Poland’s Hojnisz-Staręga 16th in women’s biathlon

Her compatriot Kamila Żuk placed 53rd, and two other Poles, Anna Mąka and Kinga Zbylut, came in 66th and 69th respectively.

Norway’s Marte Olsbu Roeiseland triumphed in the event, winning her second gold medal of the Games in China, ahead of second-placed Elvira Oeberg of Sweden and third-placed Italian Dorothea Wierer.

Biathlon is an Olympic winter sport that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting.

Ski jumper Dawid Kubacki won Poland's first and so far only medal at the Beijing Olympics by grabbing the bronze in the men's normal hill individual event last Sunday.

The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games run until February 20.

Poland won two medals at the previous winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, finishing 20th in the medals table.

The country scooped six medals, four gold, one silver and one bronze, during the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, the best Olympic Winter Games tally for Poland ever.
