Held on the first weekend of May, the Wings for Life World Run is a running competition to collect funds for the non-profit Wings for Life foundation.

The run starts at the same time in a number of locations worldwide - this was at 1 pm in Poland. The race was held in the streets of the mid-western city of Poznań, where 8 thousand runners were chased by a "Catcher Car" driven by ski jumping champion Adam Małysz. The race ended for anyone with whom the car caught up.

The run could also be joined anywhere with the help of a special phone app, also with the voice of Adam Małysz.

The first Wings for Life World Run was held on May 4, 2014 to raise funds to support research and studies on the spinal cord and spinal cord injuries, and also draw attention to the problems of paraplegic persons.

The motto of the race is: "Running for those who can’t."

The entire race entry fee is donated to the foundation.

This year's edition of Wings for Life was joined by 161 thousand runners. First (last to be caught by the Catcher Car) were Japan's Jo Fukuda, who ran 64.4 km, and Nina Zarina of the USA (56 km).

Poland's Dariusz Nóżyński and Patrycja Talar were second.
