Poland’s U18 women’s team will vie for promotion to the second tier of international competition with Denmark, Spain, China, South Korea and Chinese Taipei (Taiwan), officials said.
Magdalena Jabłońska’s team will be looking to build on their good performance at this year’s championship; they finished second at the event in Austria in September, after beating the likes of Denmark and South Korea.
Poland also came second in the Four Nations’ Cup in November.
Meanwhile, as preparation for the world championships, they will play Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary in the Olympic Hopes Tournament in the Slovak town of Púchov from December 15 to 17, reporters were told.
The venue for the 2023 ice hockey U18 women’s world championship Division I, Group B, is the Jantor ice rink in Katowice, which also hosted the 2022 women’s world championship Division I, Group B in April.
The Polish team gave the home fans much to cheer about, claiming silver after winning four matches and losing only to China, which featured many players born in Canada and the United States, onet.pl reported.
