Raków conceded an own goal in the ninth minute of the match in the southern Polish city of Sosnowiec on Tuesday night, and did not manage to reduce the deficit despite creating a number of scoring opportunities, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
The Polish team will play FC Copenhagen in the second leg next Wednesday, August 30, away from home for a place in the Champions League group stage.
Raków had moved on to the fourth and final round of Champions League qualifiers after eliminating Cypriot side Aris Limassol.
Raków in May won the Polish premier league championship for the first time, while heavyweights Legia Warsaw, the most successful Polish football club in history, finished runners-up.
Legia Warsaw last Thursday advanced to the final qualifying round for the 2023/2024 UEFA Europa Conference League with a 5-3 away win against Austria Vienna.
