Polish veteran soldiers to compete at Invictus Games: audio report

Swimming, cycling, and archery, among other sports, will be the battlegrounds for the Polish team of  twenty army veterans set to compete during the upcoming Invictus Games in the German city of Düsseldorf.

Before the Polish squad took off for Germany, they were given a going-away meeting on Thursday by the defense minister.

Mariusz Błaszczak wished the team members success in the upcoming event, emphasizing the pivotal role of sports in the daily lives of veteran soldiers.

Poland’s Chef de Mission, Col. Mariusz Pogonowski, told reporters on Thursday that the entire Polish team are eager to perform their best.

“In this edition of the Invictus Games, Poland  is represented by 20 athletes,” Pogonowski said.

“Their prospects are promising across all competitions. I want to emphasize that all athletes are here to represent our country in the best way possible and to excel in front of their families,” he added

The Invictus Games are set to kick off on Saturday, offering a week-long spectacle of athletic prowess.
