Women's handball: Poland beat Japan in second world championship win

Poland defeated Japan 32-30 in their second match at the 2023 World Women's Handball Championship to secure a spot in the main round of the tournament.

The two teams battled head-to-head for most of the game in Herning, Denmark, but Poland ultimately emerged victorious, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Poland beat Iran 35-15 in their opening match of the championship on Thursday.

The Polish team, coached by Norwegian Arne Senstad, will face Germany in their final group-stage match at the Jyske Bank Boxen arena in the Danish city of Herning on Monday.

Thirty-two teams, including defending champions Norway, are vying for supremacy in the 2023 World Women’s Handball Championship.

The tournament spans six venues across Denmark, Norway and Sweden, and runs until December 17.
