Świątek, the world no. 1 in women's tennis, became the top earner thanks to winning the 2023 French Open and WTA Finals, among other titles, as well as landing "four new endorsement deals," Forbes said.
The 22-year-old Pole made an estimated USD 23.9 million in 2023, before taxes and agents' fees.
Świątek's 2023 revenue includes USD 9.9 million earned from tennis and USD 14 million in off-the-court earnings, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
China's freestyle skier Eileen Gu came second in Forbes' ranking with USD 22.1 million.
America's tennis player Coco Gauff claimed the third spot after earning USD 21.7 million in 2023.
In all, there were 12 tennis players among the world's 20 highest-paid female athletes in 2023, and nine in the top 10.
This reflects the fact that tennis "offers sizable prize money and ample marketing opportunities for female athletes," Forbes said.
