Handball: Poland lose to Norway in men's Euro Champs opener

The Polish men's handball team have lost to favourites Norway in their opening match at the 2024 European Championship in Germany.

It finished Poland 21 Norway 32 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin on Thursday night, Polish state news agency PAP reported. 

In their other matches in preliminary Group D, Poland play Slovenia on Saturday and the Faroe Islands on Monday, also in Berlin.

The two best teams from each of the six groups advance to the event's main round.

The 2024 European Men's Handball Championship runs in Germany until January 28, with the final set to be played at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne.
