3x3 basketball: Poland stun Team USA at Paris Olympics

Poland defeated Team USA 19-17 in their second game at the Olympic men's 3x3 basketball tournament in Paris on Wednesday.

The Poles prevailed over the favoured Americans, never allowing their opponents to lead.

Adrian Bogucki scored seven points for Poland, while Michał Sokołowski added five; Przemysław Zamojski contributed four, and Filip Matczak finished with three points, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

The Polish team had lost 19-21 to France in its opening match of the tournament on Tuesday.

After two rounds of games, Poland sit fourth in pool play, with one win and one loss, behind France, Latvia and Serbia.

The Polish team is set to take on Latvia in its third match of the Olympic competition on Thursday.

3x3 basketball is a variation of the game played three a side on one basketball hoop.

The 2024 Games mark the second Olympics 3x3 basketball is recognised as an official event.

It made its debut as an Olympic sport at the Tokyo Games, which were held in Japan from July 23 to August 8, 2021.

Poland made an early exit from the Olympic tournament in Tokyo after losing five games and winning just two.
