Polish kayakers narrowly miss podium in thrilling Olympic final

The Polish team missed out on a medal by just 0.24 seconds.

The crew, who won bronze in Tokyo, got off to a slow start and found themselves trailing early on, remaining in sixth place at the halfway mark.

Despite a strong finish, they couldn't surpass the Hungarian team and ultimately finished fourth. Meanwhile, New Zealand emerged victorious, with Lisa Carrington claiming her sixth Olympic gold and seventh overall.

"Fantastic, intense race! Our kayak team, consisting of Cpl. Naja, Cpl. Puławska, Cpl. Putto, and Cpl. Kąkol, achieved a commendable fourth place in the K4 500m event at the Paris 2024 Olympics. They came very close to the podium. Thank you for the thrilling sports experience and for fighting until the very last meter," congratulated Vice Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. All the athletes involved in the competition are professionally connected to the military.

Award promotions and honors to military medalists at Paris Olympics

Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has decided that all military athletes who have won or will win a medal at the Paris Olympic Games will be promoted and specially recognized.
