Nicknamed the "Polish Forrest Gump" for his ability to run for days on end, the 26-year-old has already completed several ultra-distance challenges.
These include the 18-day, 756-kilometer Run Across Poland, covering the equivalent of 18 marathons from the southern mountain resort of Zakopane to the coastal city of Gdynia, and a 90-day, 3,600-kilometer run from Poland to Greece and back, equivalent to 85 marathons.
Sobania's upcoming journey across the United States will involve running 150 marathons in 170 days, all in support of a charitable cause, as he told Radio Poland's Danuta Isler in a phone interview from New York.
His run kicks off from New York's Central Park on Sunday, and fans can follow his progress online at https://runacrossusa.org/.
