Spanish media report that Szczęsny has expressed his desire to join the club and is considered one of the main candidates to replace the injured Marc-André ter Stegen.
Although coach Hansi Flick currently prefers Iñaki Peña as the starting goalkeeper, Szczęsny may soon sign a contract with Barça, which is in search of an experienced goalkeeper.
His transfer could be complicated by a clause in his contract with Juventus that requires him to pay a fee if he moves to another club quickly.
Wojciech Szczęsny confirmed his interest in a transfer to FC Barcelona, stating in an interview with SPORT, “Yes, I’m now in talks and considering Barça move. It’d be disrespectful if I didn’t consider this option for my career.”
The 34-year-old goalkeeper added, “Barça is one of the best clubs in the world,” expressing his excitement about the opportunity.
According to journalist Tomasz Włodarczyk from Meczyki.pl, the transfer is nearing finalization, and Szczęsny is set to become a player for FC Barcelona. After undergoing medical tests, which will ultimately determine the future of the goalkeeper, a one-year contract could be signed as early as next Thursday.
