Wojciech Szczęsny landed at 10:30 a.m. at El Prat Airport, and despite the presence of the media, the club attempted to conceal his arrival.
Spanish newspapers confirmed that, despite the waiting journalists and television crews, Szczęsny immediately got into a dark-tinted car belonging to FC Barcelona after leaving the plane and drove away.
Szczęsny had announced his retirement from professional football, but the situation changed after Marc-André ter Stegen, the starting goalkeeper for Barcelona, suffered a knee injury.
The German underwent surgery and will be sidelined for the rest of the season, with 25-year-old Inaki Pena, who was a backup, taking his place.
The club sought an experienced goalkeeper and is considering Szczęsny, a close friend of Robert Lewandowski, who has been playing for FC Barcelona for some time.
It is estimated that Szczęsny will earn around three million euros gross, and his contract will be based on a provision that allows the acquisition of players in the case of a long-term injury.
The Polish goalkeeper, who has a home in Marbella, began individual training in Spain after La Liga approved his transfer.
On Monday, he is expected to undergo medical tests to join the team training sessions.
His first match for Barcelona could be against Sevilla on October 20, although this has not been officially confirmed yet.
