As the Italian media report - it turns out that the Polish international striker is struggling with yet another injury. "He picked up a calf injury just when it seemed that his return to the team was close" - a weekend article by La Gazzetta dello Sport reads.

Milik, whose entire career has been marred by injuries, has been out of action since June 5, when he left the pitch with a knee injury during the Poland - Ukraine friendly. His return was delayed for months - but by the end of 2024 it seemed really close.

Giuntoli had previously announced that the Pole should be ready to play in early January - and some Italian media even speculated that he could make the squad for Juve's Super Cup match against Milan on January 3, 2025.

Milik was not in the roster for this game, though - and now Juventus' technical director has stated that it is not known when the 30-year-old Pole can be expected to return to the pitch. This situation is forcing the club's management to intensify their search for another striker fit to play.

"This new injury to Milik, who has been absent since June, has convinced Giuntoli to speed up the first approach for Manchester United's Joshua Zirkzee. The coming days will show what will come out of this. According to reports - things look increasingly optimistic, but in the meantime alternative transfer targets are considered as well: Kolo Muani from PSG and Patrik Schick from Bayer Leverkusen".

- the Italian sports daily claims.
