Alla Prelovska made the appeal in an interview with public broadcaster Polish Radio on Wednesday.
She revealed that the organisers of this year’s Cannes showcase had provided the Ukrainian delegation with "free-of-charge accommodation and technical equipment."
‘Russian culture should be boycotted’
Prelovska added: “When it comes to support in the form of resolutions and bans on Russian culture, it has not been as big as it can be.”
She told Polish Radio that "Russian culture should be boycotted until the war ends, yet this approach still hasn’t been adopted by the French and European cultural sector."
Prelovska, an international projects manager at Ukraine’s film association, said that there was “huge interest in Ukrainian movies and much support for Ukraine” at Cannes 2022, Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
Zelensky’s appearance at Cannes
She added that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s address to the Cannes audience was “very impressive and very important.”
Zelensky, a former actor, made a special video appearance at the festival's opening ceremony on Tuesday, in part thanks to efforts by Polish filmmakers, according to the IAR news agency.
Polish support ‘surpassed all expectations’
Prelovska told Polish Radio: “Poland is helping us substantially. It’s not exactly a surprise, but it has surpassed all expectations.”
She added: “I thank every Polish person I meet, because I am aware of what they do for us … in terms of humanitarian, cultural and economic assistance.”
This year’s 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival runs until May 28.
Thursday is day 85 of Russia's war on Ukraine.
Poland on Thursday reported it had welcomed almost 3.5 million refugees fleeing Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
