Śmigasiewicz’s debut as both a director and screenwriter, Framed tells the story of an international group of recognized actors starring in an atmospheric thriller focusing on the work of 16th-century Italian painter Michelangelo Caravaggio.
Studying the late years of the life of the Baroque master, a Polish researcher named Dominic reveals some unknown facts about the “most famous painter in Rome," as Caravaggio was sometimes referred to, and the deeper he searches, the more complicated the plot becomes.
The main part in the film, that of Dominic, is played by Poland’s Piotr Adamczyk, but the cast as a whole is international, as is the production crew.
Klaudiusz Madeja spoke to Śmigasiewicz and Italian actor Luca Calvani at the film's premiere in Warsaw earlier this week.
