In October 2022, Nowak, 71, led the orchestra in Manila in a programme of works by Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky and Filipino composer Lucio San Pedro. His first concert as the PPO's principal conductor is set for September 15.
Nowak’s previous positions include those of music director of the Polish National Opera in Warsaw and of the permanent associate conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London. His discography comprises over 80 CDs, many of which have received prestigious awards.
The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) is the resident orchestra of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. It is regarded as one of the top musical ensembles in the Asia-Pacific region.
