The Best European Show is a joint undertaking by the Fondazione Teatro Due Parma in Italy, the Kosovo National Theatre, Teatru Malta, and the National Theatre of Nova Gorica in Slovenia, with the Opole Theatre acting as the project’s executive co-producer.

The Opole Theatre describes the production on its website as “a satirical comedy about contemporary Europe and its theatre scene.”

It outlines the storyline as follows: “A jury has to select the winner of the first European Theatre Festival modelled after the Eurovision Song Contest. The task turns out to be more difficult than anyone could have imagined. Politics, private ambitions, love affairs and bold artistic visions interplay during the final round of the jury debates ... The stakes are high, the pressure is mounting. And almost everything that can go wrong – goes wrong.”

The Best European Show is directed by Haris Pašović from Bosnia, while the cast includes actors and actresses from Italy, Kosovo, Malta, Slovenia, Germany, France and Poland.

Later this month, the production will be shown in Parma, and next year in Valetta, Malta, Nova Gorica in Slovenia and Pristina in Kosovo.
