The 12th edition of the Poland Film Festival in Tokyo is set to start on Nov 24 and will continue till Nov 30. Festival's program and schedule can be found at its website polandfilmfes.com and at the pages of the Polish Institute in Tokyo. This year, all the screenings will take place at Tokyo's Yebisu Garden Cinema.

This year's program is composed of twelve Polish features - including films by esteemed directors Jerzy Skolimowski and Agnieszka Smoczyńska - both of whom will appear and speak at the festival. The other speakers invited include Polish film producers Aneta Hickinbotham and Ewa Piaskowska, as well as Japanese experts and journalists Koichi Kuyama and Peter Barakan.

Poland Film Festival was created and is carried out on the initiative of Mr. Nobuo Murata, the head of the Mermaid Films - a known distributor of foreign films in Japan, who brought many Polish titles to this country. Thanks to his commitment, such Polish films as "Four Nights with Anna", "Essential Killing" or Jerzy Skolimowski's films from the 1960s were released on DVD in Japan - as well as works of other Polish cinema masters, including Andrzej Wajda, Jerzy Kawalerowicz and Roman Polański. Murata was also the promoter behind the Japanese Film Review held in Warsaw, Poland.
