“Kleks Academy,” a modern adaptation of Jan Brzechwa's cult story, marks a significant cultural moment, drawing both young audiences and nostalgic parents.

The film's director, Maciej Kawulski, expressed his delight at the overwhelming reception. "I knew that Kleks would remember itself, but in my sincerest dreams, I didn't expect such a result and such a great reception," he said, as quoted by Next Film.

A significant twist in this adaptation is the introduction of a female lead, Ada Niezgódka, played by Antonina Litwiniak. Set against the backdrop of New York, the film follows Ada's adventures as she navigates the world of Professor Ambrose Kleks' academy. The storyline weaves themes of imagination, friendship, and self-discovery, as Ada confronts challenges and unravels mysteries connected to her family.

Tomasz Kot steps into the role of Professor Kleks, originally portrayed by the iconic Polish actor Piotr Fronczewski. Kot acknowledges the challenge of reinterpreting such a beloved character. "I tried to do the best I could... Who says there are two of them?", he reflects on his approach to making the character his own while honoring Fronczewski's legacy.

The film also addresses contemporary themes of diversity and inclusivity, with children from various cultural backgrounds attending the Academy, state news agency PAP reported.

"Kleks Academy," which opened for regular distribution on Friday, promises a blend of nostalgia and innovation. Written by Krzysztof Gureczny and Agnieszka Kruk, the film's cast includes esteemed actors like Danuta Stenka, Agnieszka Grochowska, and Daniel Walasek.
