Bulldozers were due to move in Paris’s Latin Quarter on Monday to knock down one of three buildings that made up Skłodowska-Curie’s Paris laboratory.
France’s culture ministry stepped in at the last minute to suspend the demolition.
Paris councilor Anne Biraben told Polish Radio it was a "mere suspension" so there was still a possibility the Skłodowska-Curie site would be dismantled in the future.
