Orliński has also acted as producer, casting director, and, with conductor Stefan Plewniak, joint artistic director of the recording.

The BBC Music Magazine writes that “Orfeo in Gluck’s opera has become a signature role for Jakub Józef Orliński on stages around the world”, adding that “the recording is for him the realisation of a dream”.

The Polish singer said in an earlier interview: “As a character, Orfeo shows bravery, true love and passion, and he’s a very dramatic character, which I love”.

The roles of Orfeo’s wife Euridice and the god Amore are sung by two rising stars of the opera and concert stage: the sopranos Elsa Dreisig and Fatma Said.

In the recording, which was made in Poland and released on Warner Classics, the singers are accompanied by Il Giardino d’Amore, an ensemble founded and directed by Poland’s Stefan Plewniak, a violinist who has developed a fine international career as a conductor and music producer.

Orliński’s upcoming appearances include recitals with early Baroque music at the BBC Proms on July 23 and at the Edinburgh International Festival on August 3.
