The city is marking the anniversary with a vibrant three-day celebration this weekend, featuring nearly 100 events across various cultural venues.
The festivities, which highlight the historic district's offerings beyond its appeal to tourists, include concerts, dance parties, workshops, guided tours, and more.
The celebrations began on Friday with educational tours at the Royal Castle and the Clock Tower. The afternoon featured a concert by Molesta Ewenement, pioneers of street-style rap in Poland, and performances by local bands with Eastern European influences.
A silent disco was set to take place in the evening at the Old Town Square.
Saturday's events focus on the history and architecture of the Old Town, with a lecture on its reconstruction and activities that showcase the rich tapestry of local life, including craft workshops and role-playing games.
The evening will culminate with a jazz concert by Aga Zaryan Quintet at the Old Town Square, part of the 30th International Outdoor Jazz Festival.
The festivities wrap up on Sunday with a multicultural breakfast event featuring Latin music and cuisine in front of the Warsaw Museum.
The day offers various family-friendly activities, including interactive performances and historical tours of seldom-seen courtyards and basements.
The celebrations conclude with a Polish-style tango dance party and a concert by Slovak artist Júlia Masnicová.
Karolina Ziębińska, director of the Warsaw Museum, said that the Old Town, rebuilt post-World War II, represents a densely woven urban fabric that is worth exploring not just during festivities but throughout the year.
Its reconstruction, based in large part on drawings by Warsaw architect Zbigniew Krawczyński, recreated the Old Town from ruins. The project, which took decades to complete, was unique in world terms as the first such attempt to recreate an entire city neighborhood.
"It is worth visiting the Old Town during walks around the city, even near the nearby Vistula Boulevards or during a visit to the Fountain Park, and also without any special occasion, to explore a bit, stray from the main streets and look into seemingly ordinary nooks--because often in some gateway, behind unassuming doors, there are really fascinating places waiting to be discovered," Ziębińska said.
Most events are free, though some require tickets available on the Grupa Starówka website, where attendees can also find a full program and interactive map.
