Among the honorees for 2025 is Olga Boznańska, a leading painter of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, marking the 160th anniversary of her birth and the 85th anniversary of her death.
Despite pursuing her career abroad, Boznańska remained deeply connected to Poland, and her paintings are considered key works of Polish modernism.
The year 2025 will also be dedicated to Franciszek Duszeńko, a prominent sculptor, on the 100th anniversary of his birth. His works, including monuments in Treblinka and Westerplatte, stand as important testimonies to 20th-century history.
In honor of the 130th anniversary of Antoni Słonimski's birth, 2025 will focus on this eminent poet, writer, and publicist, a co-founder of the Skamander group known for his satirical humor and efforts to protect copyright.
The Sejm has also declared 2025 as the Year of Stefan Żeromski, commemorating the centenary of the writer’s death, and General Kazimierz Sosnkowski, marking the 140th anniversary of his birth and recognizing his contributions to Poland's struggle for independence.
Additionally, 2025 will honor the Polish heroes from Katyn, Kharkiv, Miednoye, Bykivnia, and other sites who were murdered under the 1940 Kremlin order.
To commemorate the millennium of the coronation of Bolesław the Brave and Mieszko II, 2025 will also be recognized as the Millennium of the Coronation of the First Two Kings of Poland in Gniezno.
