The festival offers a deep dive into the traditional music and culture of these diverse regions.
Since its inception in 2005, the Cross Culture Festival has grown into one of the most significant events in Poland and Central Europe for world music and cultural exchange. Recognized by Songlines Magazine as one of the top 25 world music festivals, it serves as a platform where artists from different continents, cultures, and musical styles come together on the stage of the Warsaw Dramatic Theatre.
This year’s lineup includes performances by acclaimed artists like Oumou Sangaré, Elida Almeida, Bonga, Duk-soo Kim and Ensemble Sinawi, along with the bands LEMMA and Suonno D’Ajere. In addition to concerts, the festival offers workshops that provide insight into the art and traditions of various regions, with free admission to these sessions.
"For 20 years, the Cross Culture Festival has introduced the most fascinating artistic phenomena from both distant and nearby cultures," the festival's director, Maria Pomianowska, told PAP newswire.
"This year, we will once again take the residents of Warsaw on a cultural journey, exploring new musical landscapes from Asia, Africa, and Europe. The anniversary edition promises to be a special experience," she added.
