The event commemorates the 38th anniversary of the World Day of Prayer for Peace in Assisi, where Pope John Paul II, originally from Poland, met with representatives from various religions.
The title of the concert is derived from Psalm 122: "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; may those who love you be secure!"
The program will feature works such as the motet Adom Olam by Salamone Rossi, the fourth movement of J.S. Bach's cantata, and the traditional Syrian song Yal asmar ellon, arranged by Edward Torikian.
Additionally, the concert will feature the choir of the John Paul II Thought Center, conducted by Jakub Siekierzyński, collaborating with singers from diverse cultures and faiths, along with musicians from the Bastarda Trio, who actively support Ukrainians in their war with Russia.
The goal of the concert is to showcase music from various Christian denominations, Judaism, and Islam, highlighting both their common elements and the unique characteristics of each culture.
The organizers emphasize the importance of interfaith dialogue and the history of these religions.
Admission to the event, which will take place this Sunday at the W. Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio, is free with the acquisition of a complimentary ticket.
