In 1984, Ryszard Kapuściński prepared a book of short writings titled The Hourglass, which was blocked from publication due to censorship in communist Poland.
The book, containing reflections, poems, and quotes, portrays Kapuściński as a visionary and is now being published for the first time, nearly 40 years later.
Michał Nogaś from Polish Radio highlighted how the work remains strikingly relevant today, with Kapuściński predicting the growing role of communication and information in shaping societies.
The release of The Hourglass coincides with the 80th anniversary of the Czytelnik Publishing Cooperative, which had previously published many of Kapuściński's major works.
The posthumous premiere of Kapuściński's latest publication is scheduled for October 23, 2024, and the book will be available for pre-order starting Friday, October 18 (photo: K.Wójcik/Forum)
