Based on true events, the film recounts the story of Wojtek, a bear who accompanied Polish soldiers during World War II. Filming took place in several locations in Poland, including Kłodzko and Bystrzyca Kłodzka in the southwest, as well as Zgierz and Łódź in central Poland.
'An Orange from Jaffa,' directed by Mohammed Almughani, a Polish-French co-production, has been shortlisted in the Best Live Action Short Film category.
The film presents the story of a young Palestinian man trying to cross a checkpoint to reunite with his mother.
However, the film 'Under the Volcano' by Damian Kocur, which represented Poland, did not make it to the 'shortlist' published on Tuesday. Oscar nominations will be announced on January 17, 2024.
