The company described him in a Facebook obituary as "an extraordinary artist whose performances in operas by Mozart and Rossini, as well as Baroque and contemporary composers, will for ever remain in the memory and hearts of music lovers."
The Polish Royal Opera added that Klimczak will also be remembered as "a warm, straightforward and sharp-witted person, utterly committed to his musical passion."
After graduating from the Music Academy in Wrocław, southwestern Poland, in 1987, Klimczak joined the Warsaw Chamber Opera.
During his three-decade career as its soloist, he appeared in over 50 leading bass-baritone parts, including the title roles in Mozart’s Don Giovanni and The Marriage of Figaro, and in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin.
Foreign tours with the Warsaw Chamber Opera took him to Spain, Austria, Japan, Lebanon and Israel.
His national honours included the Knight's Cross of the Polonia Restituta Order and the Golden Cross of Merit.
